The faith-based, apocalyptic evangelicals have won this battle against the "reality community". Bush won despite Tora Bora, Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib. The crusade continues. In God we trust - and also in Osama bin Laden. He got exactly what he wanted.
There will be countless others with far more interesting things to say about this election, so I won't even bother — other than to say this article by Pepe Escobar, via Michael Miller, sums it all up nicely.
Now Murka no longer needs to pretend — it can proclaim in firm, stentorian tones "Get Ready World! We're Not A Reality-Based Community, And We're Proud Of It!" (or, "We Rule, We're Cruel — Get Over It!")
I moved to Canada last year anticipating this: once a revolutionary power assumes control they do not relinquish it.
Canada is a truly great country — it is, in reality, everything Murka pretends to be. I encourage decent, intelligent people to leave Murka while they still can.
