enh, so what?
...more than two-in-five voters (42%) say they would favor impeachment proceedings if it is found the President misled the nation about his reasons for going to war with Iraq.

In a sign of the continuing partisan division of the nation, more than two-in-five (42%) voters say that, if it is found that President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should hold him accountable through impeachment. While half (50%) of respondents do not hold this view, supporters of impeachment outweigh opponents in some parts of the country.

Impeachment is overwhelmingly rejected in the Red States—just 36% say they agree Congress should use it if the President is found to have lied on Iraq, while 55% reject this view...
What?! I mean, really, What The Fuck?!
Less than half the fucking country considers impeachment an appropriate action if BushCo lied about the reasons for going to war?!
The news isn't that the country is so divided over this issue. We already know it's divided, and that the division is getting wider and deeper. So what.
The news is that the number of citizens who would seek to impeach their Commander in Chief for going into a disastrous and ruinous war over a pack of stupid and obvious lies is less than
This isn't some painful little lie, like, say, denying that you got a blowjob from your co-worker — the kind of lie countless spouses tell their mate every day to either prevent a hurt or hide their infidelity. We're talking The Big Lie, the kind of lie that only those in power can tell because their decisions wield enormous consequences that can affect the course of human history: the kind of lie that's responsible for destroying entire towns, entire societies, entire nations; the kind of lie that reduces an advanced society with functioning infrastructures to rubble; the kind of lie that creates seething enmity that can lead to internecine
What I find most inconceivable is that half the Murkan population is ok with this Big Lie, that they can just shrug their shoulders and don't at all see why they should hold these war criminals responsible for their crimes against humanity. I just can't comprehend how someone can be told to their face that outright lies were responsible for killing one's neighbors, one's friends, one's family, and be ok with that. It's like discovering that your kid was killed by a hit-and-run driver you discover was your next-door neighbor, and your response is to give him a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card and a beer because you go to the same church.
People don't seem to understand that in a representative democracy we are electing servants, not leaders. Yes, their function is to lead, but in leading they serve. In a representative democracy leaders are hired servants and the electorate is the employer. What kind of employer looks the other way when his employee is an inveterate liar responsible for seriously damaging the company's reputation, driving customers away, perhaps even imperilling it's viability?
How can there be any disagreement about this? How can there be any divisiveness over such a simple moral equation? I would bet that the same people who wouldn't impeach BushCo for lying through their teeth to commit their epic crimes are most likely "law-and-order" types who love three-strike laws and the death penalty; I'd bet they're probably the same people who decry us atheists for our "moral relativism."
Well fuck them; and fuck BushCo; and fuck the disgraceful, cowardly, parroting media who held and aimed the rapist's cock; and fuck the spineless, craven "opposition" party who drove the getaway car...and fuck Murkans for allowing these psychotic fuckers to get away with their epic crimes! In the space of a handful of years their homeland has become a disgrace in the eyes of the world, a world made incalculably unsafer and unhappier because of their lies. And Murkans allowed it to happen. "No I didn't — I voted for Kerry!" "No I didn't — I went to a vigil and held a candle!" I can hear Hitler laughing in his grave.
Hey, and I got news for you. Even were an impeachment imaginable, even were proceedings to occur, it would have no effect at all on the direction Murka is going. You think BushCo gives a fuck for the constitution, for the law, for public opinion?! Do you think they didn't know they would eventually be caught in their Big Lie? They knew, and they didn't care. That's how little they care for the opinions of others; that's how much contempt they harbor for those who think differently; that's how enormous their hubris, their monomania. For them, the ends justify the means, and the Big Lie is just one weapon in their arsenal. If it backfires, so what? what are you going to do about it? These are the kinds of people who would think nothing of assassinating their precious marionette at some opportune time and blame it on some targeted group if, in their political accounting, he's worth more dead than alive so as to enact their definitive coup de grace on their takeover of Murka.
BushCo ain't leaving, with or without Bush himself — you see, the Hydra is now in control of all three branches of government. Only the inevitable cataclysm will remove it.
